Visualization requirements

The website has been created to be correctly visible with Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 3.x Opera 4.x, Chrome.
 
Client cookies must be active
 
Accept Active X download if requested when accessing the website
 
The following software could be needed:

Home

The main video player available in the home page is:
 
 

Channels

4 channels are available:
 
Science video which broadcasts video reports on scientific topics;
 
- Educational which broadcasts high level educational videos (for graduate, Phd students, researchers) as lessons, seminars and so on;
 
- Conference which broadcasts conference speeches or full conferences live;
 
- Interview which broadcasts interviews of scientific relevance (i.e. to scientists on their research topics); it can be used to broadcast live interviews or talk shows.
 
Each channels is available in two languages: English and Italian.
 
To access the language option click this button .
 
For example if you click on Science Video the video will look as follows:
 
 

 Player controls

The following image shows the management bar of the video, which could be divided in two sections
 
In the bar the following controls are available:
 

 -  Play & Pause

 
 this button starts the video.
To pause the video click only once the button “play” and the button “pause” will appear
 
To resume the video click on the button “pause” and the button “play” will appear again
 

  -  Slow motion

 
The button  allows the slow motion of the video
 

  -  Progress and volume bar

 
The bar
 
 
Indicates the video progress.
 
You can see on the right two couple of  numbers:
 
-  the first one (i.e. 0.00) is the time spent from the beginning of the video,
 
-  the second one (i.e. 31:09) is the duration of the entire video
 
The button  can be used for controlling the volume
 
Note: The progress bar may be moved ahead by moving the cursor at the beginning.
 
The volume can be raised or lowered as you want but the higher or lower volume depend also on the settings of the PC.
 

-  Showing/Hiding player elements


 
If you click on the arrows , you can hide/show the player sections on the four sides.
 

-  Full screen mode

 
If you click on  the player will pass to the full screen mode (see the following image).
 
 
 
As the full screen will be activated a message will indicate how to get back to the previous version (click esc to exit the full screen mode).
 
This information will be visible for 3 seconds.
 

-  Video bar

 
If you click on the symbol  at the bottom of the player you can show/hide the videos bar cantaining all the videos of the correspondent channel (see the following image).
 
 
To see a video you just have to click to the correspondent button available in the box
If more videos are present you can use the bar   to see all of them .
 

-  Zoom and Rotate

 
The following functions are available at the top of the video player .
 
Rotate 
 which allows rotating the video up to 360°.
 
 Zoom
which allows performing zoom in and zoom out of the video.
 
 
 

Media Library

 
The media library section contains all the videos available in the website (inserted by the staff or by registered users)
 
The following screen will appear once entering the media library.
 
 
 
The first page indicates all the available categories (four as the channels in the home page)
 
If you click, for example, on the Conference section, the following screen will appear
 
 
 
 
In this screen the videos are subdivided into conferences (each conference has more than one video).
 
For example you can choose the conference “Change and Hydrogeological Disaster” and the following screen, with different subcategories, will appear.
 
 
 
If you click on one of the subcategories, the available videos will appear as in the following image.
 
 
 
 
In the box 1 (top-left) the player of this section is visible.
 
Box 2 (top-right) shows who insterted the video.
 
Box 3 (bottom-right) shows all the videos available and the related information.
 
A search engine is available to find a video.

This page allows to send a message to the Science4.tv webmaster
 
 
 
The fileds must be compiled as follows:
 
- Home box: type name and surname.
 
- Mail: type your e-mail.
 
- Subject: type the subject of the message.
 
- Message: type the message.
 
Once all the fileds have been filled out, click on the button “send”.
 
You can also send a copy to your e-mail just clicking on the box “E-mail a copy of this message to your own address.
 

Schedule

 
If you click on schedule in the upper window, the following screen will appear:
 
 
 
 
This page shows the program schedule. If you click on the name of the event, the event informations and the access link will appear.
 
It is also possible to use the search engine to find an event.
 

Registration & Login

 

 

 
In this page you can register in the website, recover the username and the password or log in by typing username and password.
 

-  Register

From the login section it is possible to access the registration page by using the link “register”.
 
The section “register” allows registering in the website and getting a username and a password.
 
Registered users may comment on, rate and/o upload videos in the media library.
 
Any uploaded video will be visible in the website only after the approval of the webmaster.
 
If you click on the link “register”, the following screen will appear.
 
 
 
This screen shows all the fileds to be completed, considering the meaning of the following symbols:
 
Required field
 Field visible in your profile

 Field not visible in your profile

Information visible only if one points the mouse.
 
Once the registration has been completed, an automatic e-mail will be sent to the webmaster, which will act to approve or refuse your registration.
 
If the registration has been aprovae you’ll receive a notification e-mail.
 

-  Registered users

 
Registered users may contribute to the succes of the webTV by commenting on, rating and/o uploading videos in the media library.
 
Any uploaded video will be visible in the website only after the approval of the webmaster.
 
To do that go to the Registration & login section and type in username and password. Then you’ll be redirected into the home page.
 
If you go to media library, you will see all the options available for registered users.
